A vintage of excellent quality, because of different factors, but above all, because of the vineyard’s low vigour and low yields, with a great balance of the parameters in the wines, straight forward fruity aromas, high content in polyphenols and optimal ripeness of the grapes. Along with the impeccable sanitary conditions of the grapes and the perfect climate during the ripeness process, this vintage could be considered one of the best ones from last years.
We select high-quality Tempranillo vineyards, located in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón and owned by the winery. They are very special vineyards, of low-yielding Tempranillo clones with loose bunches and small berries, with calcareous clay and sandy loam soils, all of them with a great predominance of gravel and located at altitudes of 520-560 m.
Whole berry cold maceration is carried out after destemming at controlled temperature for 2 days. Alcoholic Fermentation is carried out in tanks at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation took place in American oak barrels followed by ageing for 14 months in the same barrels. Stabilization took place in the barrels, without adding any fining substance. Bottled without filtration to respect the quality of the wine.
Very fine and elegant nose. Notes of ripe red fruit, plums, black liquorice, with aromas of fine wood such as cedar, incense and sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate, it is unctuous, meaty, and well balanced. With bright but polished sweet tannins. A lovely mouthfeel with great a aftertaste of ripe fruit and fine wood. Long and persistent.
Chicken and chorizo risotto.
