Founded in 1985 Carlos Alonso Douro Wine Company is an independent family-owned company based in the heart of the oldest demarcated wine region in the world.
The deep knowledge of the Douro region, the ability to cultivate and obtain the best grapes, as well as the respect for tradition, ethics and responsibility, together with the vision and the character of its founder, define this company that since its establishment has been able to innovate and adapt to the changing times.

Situated in Planalto de Alijó, on the right bank of the Douro river. Sun exposure towards the west. Shale soils in transition to granite at an average altitude of 600m. The vineyards were planted in single varietal plots between 1991 and 1992.
A careful vinification was taken in small batches under unique maturation conditions, occurring a natural over-ripening. The final blend is made of the best wines. Aged for 12 months in new 500-liter French oak barrels, followed by 24 months in the bottle.
Full nose of intense and inviting aromas of wild berries, cocoa, and tobacco. Full-bodied and powerful, with firm tannins and balanced acidity. Luscious and enveloping palate.
Stewed meat, black fruit jelly and strong cheeses.
Piano 17 is at its peak for immediate consumption. It shows aging potential of 10 to 15 years. Store in a cellar with the bottle lying down.
