Founded in 1985 Carlos Alonso Douro Wine Company is an independent family-owned company based in the heart of the oldest demarcated wine region in the world.

The deep knowledge of the Douro region, the ability to cultivate and obtain the best grapes, as well as the respect for tradition, ethics and responsibility, together with the vision and the character of its founder, define this company that since its establishment has been able to innovate and adapt to the changing times.

Viticulture

Situated in the heart of Cima-Corgo, on the right bank of the river, with different sun exposures. Shale soils at an average altitude of 450m.

Winemaking

It took place between the first and second weeks of October, the grapes were destemmed and vinified according to the traditional Port wine method. Fermentation, which transforms the grapes’ natural sugar into alcohol, takes place under controlled temperatures.

The final blend is obtained after a selection of wines with their own characteristics and ages of between 2 and 5 years that allow them to maintain their unique identity and an average age of 4 years.

Tasting Note

Fresh and delicate aroma of spices and dried fruit acquired from ageing in oak. The palate is elegant with a good balance between its ripe tannins and sweetness. Long-lasting finish.

Goes well with

Pairs with a wide variety of desserts with caramel or coffee. Ideal with apple pie or crème brûlée. Strong cheeses.

Cellaring

This wine is ready to drink and does not need to be aged or decanted. Serve between 12ºC-16ºC. Once opened, it should be consumed within 2 months.
