Viticulture

Situated in the heart of Douro Valley, on the right bank of the river. Sun exposure to the west. Shale soils in transition to granite at an average altitude of 600m. The vineyard was planted in single variety plots between 1991 and 1992.

Winemaking

Harvest took place between the first and second weeks of September. The grapes were destemmed and sent straight to the press, where they were gently pressed. The resulting grape must was statically cold decanted. Alcoholic fermentation began in stainless steel vats and finished in new 500 litre French oak barrels.

After alcoholic fermentation, the wine was aged in barrels with battonâge for 9 months. After this period, the wine is stabilised and filtered, followed by bottling and a further 6 months in the bottle.

Tasting Note

A complex aroma where notes of white fruit intertwine with layers of tropical fruit well matched the notes of the barrel. The palate is intense, revealing a delicious abundance of fruit and toasted wood which offer an interesting structure. Elegant and long-lasting finish.

Goes well with

Seafood rice, grilled fish, or soft cheese.

Cellaring

This wine is ideal for immediate consumption, but it has  the potential to age for another 2 to 5 years. Store in the cellar with the bottle lying down.
