Day Wines was founded by winemaker and owner Brianne Day in 2012.
Brianne produces boutique, artisanal bottlings made from fruit sourced exclusively from a small group of Oregon growers who utilize Biodynamic, Organic and/or Sustainable vineyard practices. To create distinct expressions of their corner of the world, Day Wines focus on fruit harvested from the esteemed Willamette Valley to exotic varietals found in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley AVA.

Brianne believes the character of Oregon wine is defined by the incredible diversity found in the various growing regions spread across the state. From Applegate Valley in the south to Yamhill-Carlton in the north and numerous AVAs in between, she seeks and works with growers who are committed to stewardship of the soil and the vine through biodynamic and organic practices. These people are the backbone of the Day Wines business, and the team are proud to call them partners and friends.
Viticulture
Spring of 2022 was cold and the Willamette Valley experienced a significant freeze that knocked back the Pinot Noir vines. At the same time Brianne was nostalgic for the months she had spent traveling around Central America and then the months in Argentina during harvest 2010. So she set to looking around for other varieties that hadn’t been affected by the cold and decided to make a Malbec based blend, reminding her of the wines she had helped to produce in Mendoza.
Wrapped Around Your Finger is 42% Malbec, 24% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, 12% Tannat, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, from the Rogue Valley AVA in Southern Oregon. It was bottled on February 4th 2025.
The Rogue Valley is great for ripening these varieties, with hot summer days and cool summer nights due to the elevation of the region (around 1300 feet).
Sourced from 3 organically grown vineyards – Jaxon, Mae’s and Layne, the fruit was picked at just the ripeness Brianne specifically wanted, with no pressure from the weather.
Winemaking
25% of the clusters were left whole, and fermentation was spontaneous and managed by twice daily punch-downs. After fermentation the wine was moved to a variety of odd sized, large barrels (purchased from Antica Terra) all around 2 – 4 years old. The wine evolved in barrel, also very unhurried, for 26 months. Full native malolactic fermentation was completed, then the wine was racked to stainless and compiled. It was bottled with a small amount of sulphur, unfined and unfiltered, on February 4th 2025.
Tasting Note
The nose is fresh with red fruits and spice. Bright raspberry and plum, cedar, black pepper, and low earthy mushroom, violets and a hint of tobacco. The palate is full of black cherry, black plum, and black raspberry, leafy raspberry tea, pepper, clove and anise.

Wrapped Around Your Finger is a vibrant, organic red blend. Bursting with raspberry, black cherry, earthy mushrooms, and peppery spice, it pairs perfectly with dishes that complement earthy, savoury, and berry-driven flavours without being overly heavy.
Savoury Mushrooms: Mushroom risotto, roasted portobello mushrooms, or Mushroom Wellington. The umami notes draw out the earthy layers in the wine.
Grilled & Roasted Meats: Rosemary-garlic roasted lamb, duck confit, or herb-crusted pork loin.
Tomato-Based Pastas: Classic spaghetti Bolognese or a rich marinara sauce. The natural acidity of the wine harmonizes with tomatoes.
Dark Chocolate: A classic, decadent dessert pairing that beautifully accentuates the dark berry notes and peppery spices in the bottle
