Domaine Preignes le Vieux, Les 3 Terres, Chardonnay, 2025, IGP Pays d’Oc, France

Producer Profile

Situated between Béziers and Agde, on the sunny terraces of the Languedoc vineyards, winemaker, Jérôme Vic, and wine expert, Aurélie Vic, welcome you to Domaine Preignes le Vieux, an exceptional location that, over the last five generations, has been carefully preserved by passionate men and women. Domaine Preignes le Vieux is more than just a vineyard, this outstanding site is steeped in fascinating family history!

In the heart of stunning Mediterranean landscapes, the site boasts a unique heritage with its own 13th century Chateau. A mix of tradition and innovation. The wine produced here is the result of an age-old culture and ancestral savoir-faire. In fact, Domaine Preignes le Vieux is located on Roman remains, a testimony to a winemaking tradition, dating back over 2000 years.

Since 1905, the Vic family have been running the vineyard and making wine with a great deal of passion and commitment. Alongside their team of 40 people, wine expert, Aurélie Vic and winemaker, Jérôme Vic are proud to keep this wonderful human adventure alive.

The vineyard is based on eco-friendly sustainable agriculture to produce delicious, crisp wines ideal for get-togethers and great value for money.

“It’s about taking care of our region and promoting it, paying attention to detail in our work as we constantly improve our organisation, procedures, tools and outlook. We may know our place but we will carry on searching for the right strategy to believe in and build a better world.” Jerome Vic –

Viticulture

Domaine Preignes le Vieux is located northwest of Vias, separated from the sea by the ancient volcano of Roque Haute, all of which create a true Mediterranean climate.

The vineyards benefit from their proximity to the sea creating a micro-climate and maritime influences which extend over 3 terroirs: the plain, lands made up of basalt and volcanic ash, and gravelly soils.

The gravelly terraces of Preignes correspond to the ancient coarse alluvium of the Libron, a river which crosses the Domaine. A few hundred thousand years old, they emerge from the relief and shape this unique landscape.

Les 3 terres is French for 3 Lands», but what does that mean to wine? Each terroir has its own grape variety! Chardonnay and Syrah come into their own here on volcanic soil, Cinsault on clay and Marselan on a gravel area. Their thriving adopted land nourishes the vines and grapes. It gives it its best: its personality, strength and balance.

Winemaking

Maceration on skins followed by low temperature fermentation using neutral yeasts, lasting around 15 days.

The wine finishes fermentation in contact with new French oak for 1 month with a further 4 months maturation on lees before bottling

Tasting Note

A beautiful light yellow colour with aromas of fruit and flowers on the nose. On the palate, we find a full flavour of roasted nuts and brioche.  A lovely rich, oaky style of  French Chardonnay with a elegant and harmonious finish.
