Located in a splendid position, in the locality of Pilandro, a few steps from Desenzano del Garda, La Rifra is a family-run winery present in the area since the seventies, which has always shown great attention to quality, from the methods of cultivation of grapes up to the production of wines.
La Rifra is an agricultural company that deals with viticulture and wine production, dedicating itself in particular to the enhancement of the territory and the production of wines.
For the cultivation of the vineyards, the company does not use herbicides, works according to the methods established by European legislation, and strictly adheres to the agri-environmental measure 10 for sustainability and respect for the environment.
The fruit for this wine is planted at 70-80 meters above sea level and planted at a density of 4000 plants per hectare. The characteristic composition of the soil, clayey and rich in mineral salts, the mild climate and the proximity of the lake, contribute to obtaining a high quality wine production.
The grapes after careful manual harvesting in small boxes, are subjected to a soft squeezing followed by traditional vinification methods and temperature controlled fermentation designed to best enhance the aromas and flavours. Aged for 12 months partially in tank and in French barriques with a further 3-4 months in the bottle, prior to release.
Intense red colour with violet reflections. Aromas of violets, wild berries and vanilla notes. Concentrated flavours of cherry marmalade and cinnamon on the nose while displaying more spices in the mouth such as white pepper and hints of ripe prunes. A wine to be remembered because of its vibrant character and flavour concentration; very juicy and balanced.
Charcuterie, duck breast with plum sauce and Spaghetti all’amatriciana.
Drink in its youth but could improve with careful cellaring for 2-5 years.
