Nestled in the rolling plains of Arraiolos, Alentejo, Herdade da Cabeceira is a captivating wine estate that celebrates tradition, passion, and the harmonious interplay between land and vine. Recently acquired by Lindeborg Wines, this 86-hectare estate is located in an exceptional terroir, ideal for producing outstanding wines that embody the essence of the Alentejo region.

The estate features 54 hectares of flourishing vineyards currently in production, with 5 hectares cultivated using organic methods. An additional 10 hectares are in development, also under organic cultivation, bringing the total vineyard area to 64 hectares, with 15 hectares following organic practices.

The vineyards showcase a diverse range of grape varieties. The white varieties include Chardonnay, Antão Vaz, Sauvignon Blanc, and Arinto. The red varieties comprise Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Aragonês, and Castelão.

In its commitment to growth and excellence, Lindeborg Wines is planning to plant an additional 10 hectares in 2026, all using organic cultivation methods. This expansion will introduce three new grape varieties to the estate: Verdejo, Verdelho/Gouveio, and Alfrocheiro. This expansion is a promise to continue crafting exceptional wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Alentejo landscape while embracing sustainable practices.

Viticulture

A blend of Antão Vaz, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc, all of which are harvested early in the morning when temperatures are lower.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 12–14ºC for 20 days.

Tasting Note

It shows a lemon colour with fresh citrus aromas and tropical notes of pineapple and mango. On the palate, it is fresh and easy-drinking, with well-balanced acidity and good body. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

It pairs perfectly with grilled fish, seafood, and fresh cheeses.
