Alfredo Arribas a multidisciplinary architect, has developed most of his renowned international career in multiple world locations. Recently, more of his works have taken place in his birth town, Barcelona.
In 2001, Alfredo started his adventure in the wine world, after acquiring the estate Clos del Portal, in Priorat, where he centres his activity. In parallel, he develops a recovery task of a bunch of old vines – Trossos – in the neighbor Montsant appelation.
Perfectionist and empirical at the same time, Alfredo associates elaboration to creativity. Bringing forth vinifications with substantial notes and accents, he proposes sensible Priorats.
The respect and curiosity for different origins and terroirs creates in his work the proliferation of references, itineraries through the territory, with the explicit duality between search/discovery… in the spectrum of his wines.
Rouge brings together two vineyards of the same altitude (790m above sea level), confronted visually on both sides of the valley: Camí del Montsant on the East and Gritella on the West; the percentage of each vineyard that is used varies according to each vintage.
FERMENTATION – Whole cluster maceration with stems.
AGEING – Steel tanks, concrete eggs and amphoras.
If we tried to classify wines by categories, SiurAlta Rouge would fit into the “blush” wines, for its bright carmine colour and its drinkability. It would also take part in the cheerful character of the “vin de soif”, with its combined balance of citric and bitters. A very free expression of Garnacha, delicate, perfumed and an abundance of raspberry and soft cherry notes. Juicy and vibrant with a touch of carbonic maceration and super supple tannin, just delicious!
Charcuterie such as paté, terrines, rillettes and saucisson sec and with white-rind cheeses such as Brie and Camembert (provided they’re not overripe).
3-5 years with careful cellaring.
