Vins Nus by Alfredo Arribas represent a new separate wine range, based in the north of the Priorat and Montsant regions, an alternative and complement to the rest of his production. Wines with more absences than add-ons: no sulphites added, practically any oak, less extraction, alcohol, colour…But still showing the identity of an essential Priorat. Looking back, walking forward. Perfectionist and empirical at the same time, Alfredo associates elaboration to creativity.
The respect and curiosity for different origins and terroirs creates in his work the proliferation of itineraries through the territory, with the explicit duality between search/discovery… in the spectrum of his wines. The wine family SiurAlta – mountain & almost monovarietal wines – and the series InStabiles – mutable origin and free composition wines – reunite for now the conclusions of this quest, in the shape of small editions of around 1000 to 3000 bottles in each cuvée. Wines capable of evoking an ancestral character and at the same time tuning in with the most sensible and advanced gastronomy. Naked wines.
Lemon Melon by Vins Nus is a refreshing white wine crafted in the Montsant region of Catalonia, Spain. Made from organically grown Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris grapes, these vines have an average age of 25 years, thriving in a unique combination of slate and red clay soils.
Fruit for this cuvée was picked twice during harvest (combining both the Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris), early on to maintain the citrus/grapefruit notes and later in the harvest to gain the melon/stonefruit character – enter “Lemon Melon”.
The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation without added sulphites, showcasing a natural approach. Bottled a few days before the end of fermentation, it is an authentic grape juice, with a constant progression towards mineral notes acquired over time. Bottled unfiltered and unfined—ideal for vegans and vegetarians.
A welcoming touch of pétillance on opening. The name Lemon Melon hints at its lively and fresh character (with notes of citrus and melon), emphasizing minimal intervention in the cellar to highlight purity of fruit.
Crisp and balanced, it pairs superbly with inventive dishes, making it an enjoyable companion for flavourful meals.
2-4 years with careful cellaring.
