Leconfield estate was established in 1974 by pioneering oenologist Sydney Hamilton. Leconfield has embraced innovation to produce high quality wines which are sought after all around the world.
Leconfield’s sparkling wine range has a strong following in its own right. The original name of the Sparkling Wine Range was ‘Synergy’ in honour of the synergy between the Leconfield Coonawarra and McLaren Vale vineyards. Today all the fruit is sourced solely from the Coonawarra vineyards to capture the qualities of the cool climate region that is essential for the creation of elegant sparkling wines. To reflect this change, the name was shortened and ‘Syn’ was created
The Syn Sparkling Wines portfolio consists of Syn Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Syn Rouge Sparkling Shiraz and the elegant Syn Sparkling Rosé. Syn Sparkling Wines are award winning wines of excellent value.
2020 as a low yielding vintage. Rainfall in both winter and spring rainfall was lower than average. Following a very warm and dry second half of December, conditions during veraison and ripening were cooler than average and free from extreme temperatures and was ideal sparkling styles.
Cool climate Coonawarra Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were harvested separately while sugar levels were low and acidity tight to promote elegance and delicacy in the fruit. Fermentation was enhanced with a yeast that promotes complexity and cool fermented in the presence of juice solids. Once fermented to dryness, the components were combined with some reserve wines matured in older oak and allowed to complete malo-lactic conversion to soften the acidity. Storage on yeast lees to promote creaminess.
The wine received minimal fining before its secondary yeast fermentation to create the natural effervescence, after which a final touch up on dosage rounded out the texture.
Stone fruit nose with attractive yeasty complexity. Lively Pinot Noir fruit enhances the peachy aromas. Subtle flavours of cherry surround the textured palate. Brut in style with lovely creaminess, the wine finishes with a refreshing soft acidity.
A wine for any occasion as an aperitif, with finger foods or with seafood.
Best while in its youth.
Don’t just take our word for it…
“This chardonnay and pinot noir blend has a copper-pink hue and a restrained bouquet of savoury aromas, clean and fresh, if not especially fruity, invoking dry straw, dried herbs and pot-pourri. The palate tracks the nose, and finishes pleasantly dry and appetising. The finish has a tickle of tannin grip and is clean and lingering. There’s a lot of pinoty flavour, with attractive richness and depth of flavour. The structure enables it to handle flavoursome foods. Amazing value. ” HUON HOOKE – The Real Review
