La Rifra, Lugana DOP, Fugace, Rosato, 2021, Lombardy, Italy

Producer Profile

Located in a splendid position, in the locality of Pilandro, a few steps from Desenzano del Garda, La Rifra is a family-run winery present in the area since the seventies, which has always shown great attention to quality, from the methods of cultivation of grapes up to the production of wines.

La Rifra is an agricultural company that deals with viticulture and wine production, dedicating itself in particular to the enhancement of the territory and the production of wines.

Viticulture

For the cultivation of the vineyards, the company does not use herbicides, works according to the methods established by European legislation, and strictly adheres to the agri-environmental measure 10 for sustainability and respect for the environment.

Sourced from vines over 40 years old, at 70-80 meters above sea level and planted at a density of 4000 plants per hectare. The characteristic composition of the soil, clayey and rich in mineral salts, the mild climate and the proximity of the lake, contribute to obtaining a high quality wine production.

Winemaking

The characteristic of rosé wines is that they are produced through a process that initially follows the rules of red wine production, with the maceration of the grape skins in the must for a limited period of time, before the fermentation phenomenon begins.

At the end of this period, which varies in relation to the colouring power of the grape and the type of wine to be obtained, the production process continues following the white wine method. The rosé wines of Desenzano del Garda produced by the La Rifra winery are obtained exclusively from Marzemino quality grapes, with the traditional method of vinification and aging in the bottle for 2 months.

Tasting Note

A delicate and aromatic wine with a sublime texture. Lovely aromas of spring wild flowers, red berries and a touch of almond set the tone on this tangy, refreshing rosato. It’s succulent and savoury, boasting wild cherry, crushed raspberry, and an ever so slightly creamy raspberry yoghurt finish.

Goes well with

Tomato and mascarpone pasta and shellfish.

Cellaring

This wine, like many Rosés are made to drink young. Consume within 2 years of release.
